The Cornish Dragon Rescue Centre

Due to the exceptional longevity of dragons there is a growing problem here in Cornwall with dragons who outlive their human companions and therefore need to be rehomed with suitable families. So we have decided to set up the Cornish Dragon Rescue Centre.

For those unfamiliar with Cornish Dragons, here is a quick guide to the species native to the South West. These should not be confused with Welsh dragons which are a different breed altogether.

The lesser spotted ridgeback

This is one of the smaller breeds who prefer to roost on bungalows or low roofs and have even been know to live on garden sheds. (Although these tend to burn down fairly quickly if the dragon develops a cough)
They are very friendly creatures and are very good with children. (they can quite happily eat two or three at a sitting)

The Brighton Dragon

So called because it originated from the Brighton area but spread to Cornwall in medieval times. Again one of the smaller breeds which would suit a home with no other pets (or it would soon end up that way)

The Lewes Dragon

This is one of the larger breeds and tends to roost on the roofs of larger and grander houses. Does not get on with dogs or cats but is fine with pet Griffens and unicorns. Potential owners should be aware that these dragons have huge appetites and you may have a problem with local farmers if you don't keep their food bowls full at all times.

The Sleepy Dragon

These are small plump dragons who tend to roost in flower beds or vegetable patches due to the fact that they are afraid of heights.  They are ideal pets for novice dragon owners as they are a flightless breed who spend most of their time asleep. Great pets particularly if you like toasted vegetables.

The Griffen

Although not technically a dragon, these creatures share a lot of similarities with their distant cousins. The key difference is that they don't have the feirey breathe which makes them ideal for timber framed houses. They are also very good for keeping the seagull population down to a reasonable level.

We have many of these charming creatures ready for rehoming so please check out the dragons page for further information.
